Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in Alpha movie review
A slick action entertainer elevated by Alia and Sharvari's performances

Let’s get one thing out of the way. Alpha was never going to be judged like a normal action film. It’s the first female-led movie in the YRF Spy Universe, which means expectations were already sitting somewhere in the stratosphere. The good news? Alia Bhatt and Sharvari prove they absolutely belong in this universe. The not-so-good news? The film around them doesn’t always match their energy. Early audience reactions have praised the action and performances, but many viewers have found the story predictable and uneven.

Alia Bhatt Understood The Assignment

If anyone was wondering whether Alia could pull off a full-blown action role… Consider that question answered. She commits completely to the character, whether it’s the emotional moments or the hand-to-hand combat. She doesn’t try to imitate the franchise’s existing heroes—she brings her own style to it. This is easily one of the boldest roles of her career.

Sharvari Is The Surprise Package

Can we talk about Sharvari for a second? Because she doesn’t just keep up with Alia, she genuinely shines. Her action scenes feel confident, her screen presence is impressive, and there are moments where she quietly steals the spotlight. If Alpha was meant to introduce her as an action star, mission accomplished.

The Action Delivers… The Story Needed One More Draft

The fight choreography is slick. The scale is massive. The production value screams “YRF budget.” But once the explosions settle, the screenplay starts showing cracks. The story follows a familiar spy-universe formula, and a few twists are easy to see coming. Instead of surprising you, the film often plays it safe. That’s one of the biggest criticisms echoed in several early reviews.

Bobby Deol Does What Bobby Deol Does Best

At this point, Bobby Deol has mastered the art of making villains look effortlessly cool. He brings intensity whenever he’s on screen, even if the script doesn’t give him enough room to become a truly memorable antagonist. You just wish the film had explored him a little more.

The Cameos? Yeah… The Theatre Will React

Without spoiling anything major… Let’s just say YRF knows exactly when to play the nostalgia card. The cameos are designed for whistles, cheers, and phones quietly being lifted to record audience reactions. Do they elevate the story? Not necessarily. Do they create crowd-pleasing moments? Absolutely.

Know Buddys Take

Here’s the tea. Alpha is at its strongest when it trusts its two leads. Alia and Sharvari don’t just prove that women can lead a spy blockbuster, they make you want to see even more female-led action films. Where the movie stumbles is its script. It spends so much time trying to fit into the YRF Spy Universe that it doesn’t always carve out a unique identity of its own. It’s entertaining. It’s stylish. It’s packed with action. But it never reaches the highs of the franchise’s very best entries.
