Nearly six years after one of the most talked-about chapters in Bollywood, Rhea Chakraborty is once again speaking about the emotional toll it took on her life. In a recent interview, the actress reflected on her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, admitting that the experience continues to stay with her. Her words weren’t about reopening old controversies, they were about the lasting impact of trauma.

“Trauma Stays With You”

Speaking candidly, Rhea said that some experiences never completely leave you. She shared that while time, therapy, and healing have helped her move forward, the trauma of everything that happened still lives with her. “It’s not something you can truly get over. It’s trauma. It stays in your body, if not in your mind,” she said, reflecting on the emotional scars left behind by the legal battle and public scrutiny.

Her Brother Shared His Experience Too

The conversation wasn’t just about Rhea. Her brother, Showik Chakraborty, also opened up about how the events changed his life. He revealed that he still experiences symptoms of post-traumatic stress and spoke about how everyday moments, like hearing a doorbell ring, can take him back to that difficult period. The siblings also spoke about the importance of therapy and the long journey of rebuilding their lives after years of intense public attention.

A Chapter Bollywood Still Can’t Forget

The death of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020 became one of the most widely discussed moments in recent Bollywood history. Rhea found herself at the centre of investigations, media coverage, and public scrutiny, and was arrested by the NCB during a drug-related probe before later being granted bail. In 2025, the CBI filed a closure report ruling out foul play in Sushant’s death.

Some stories aren’t about gossip. They’re about what happens after the headlines fade. Whether people agree or disagree with different aspects of the case, Rhea’s latest interview focuses on something that’s hard to dismiss, the lasting impact that trauma and intense public scrutiny can have on a person’s life. It’s a reminder that while news cycles move on, healing often takes much longer.
