Kareena Kapoor Khan is taking the September 18 box-office clash between her upcoming film Daayra and brother-in-law Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut VIBE in good spirits. Rather than seeing the simultaneous releases as a problem, Kareena believes both films can succeed and bring audiences to theatres.
Kareena Backs Kunal
At the Daayra trailer launch, Kareena praised Kunal Kemmu as “one of the best” actors in the industry, particularly highlighting his comic timing. She also said audiences will get to see a different side of him in VIBE.
Both Films Release On September 18
The two films are scheduled to hit theatres on September 18, 2026. While Daayra is a crime drama directed by Meghna Gulzar, VIBE follows two close friends whose lives take an unexpected turn.
Kareena Thinks It’s Good For Cinema
Kareena said she believes having two strong films release together can actually be positive for the industry. She expressed confidence that both projects will find their audiences and perform well at the box office.
A Family Box-Office Face-Off
There’s also a fun family angle to the clash. With Kareena starring in Daayra and Kunal directing and starring in VIBE, the September 18 release date has effectively created a friendly box-office face-off within the family.
Kareena joked that if both films succeed, “the gold will come to our home”, making it clear she is rooting for Kunal as much as she is for her own film.
KnowBuddys Take
This isn’t a family feud; it’s a family box-office challenge. Kareena vs Kunal may be the headline, but Kareena’s rooting for both films to win because in this case, the bigger the gold at home, the better.
