The Spirit casting controversy has once again entered the spotlight, and this time Deepika Padukone’s social media activity has become the talking point. Deepika has seemingly responded to the ongoing debate around her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit after liking an Instagram post that criticised comments made by the filmmaker and his brother Pranay Reddy Vanga.
The Spirit Exit Debate Returns
Deepika Padukone was earlier expected to star opposite Prabhas in Spirit, but she exited the project. The controversy resurfaced after Pranay Reddy Vanga claimed that Deepika’s exit was linked to discussions around remuneration, working conditions and a reported demand for a share in the film’s profits.
Deepika Likes A Viral Post
Following the fresh comments, journalist Janvi Manchanda shared a post questioning the criticism around Deepika’s reported demands and discussing alleged double standards in the film industry. Deepika’s decision to like the post was seen by many as her indirect response to the controversy.
The Debate Around Profit Shares
The discussion has also opened up conversations around actors asking for profit-sharing deals. The viral post pointed out that profit participation has been a practice among several leading actors, while questioning why similar demands from women often become controversial.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Brother Shared His Side
Pranay Reddy Vanga had earlier spoken about why Deepika was no longer part of Spirit, giving his version of the events surrounding the casting change. Following her exit, Triptii Dimri was announced as the female lead opposite Prabhas in the film.
Spirit Continues To Stay In Headlines
Even before its release, Spirit has been generating massive attention due to its cast changes and the collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The controversy has now added another layer of discussion around the much-awaited action thriller.
KnowBuddys Take
A casting exit has turned into a full-blown industry debate. Deepika’s reaction was subtle, but the internet definitely caught it. Whether it’s about creative differences, money or workplace expectations, Spirit has become a conversation long before it reaches theatres.
