Jenna Ortega just found her next intense role. The Wednesday star is officially set to headline Nasty, a sports thriller that pairs her with Oscar-nominated actress Rose Byrne. Set in the high-pressure world of Olympic gymnastics, the film promises psychological tension, fierce competition, and a coach-athlete dynamic that’s anything but ordinary.
What’s Nasty About?
Nasty follows a young gymnast fighting for a coveted spot on the Olympic team. But as the stakes rise, she realizes her toughest challenge isn’t another athlete, it’s her own coach, played by Rose Byrne. The psychological sports drama is directed by Mary Bronstein and is based on a script by Isabella Jarosz, whose screenplay gained attention after landing on the prestigious Black List.
A Dream Team Behind The Camera
The project reunites Rose Byrne with director Mary Bronstein after their acclaimed collaboration on If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Adding even more star power, Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment is producing the film alongside Jenna Ortega, while Warner Bros. Clockwork, the studio’s indie label, will distribute it.
What’s Next For The Stars?
Jenna Ortega is also gearing up for Klara and the Sun, directed by Taika Waititi, while Rose Byrne will appear in The Good Daughter. With Nasty, both actors are stepping into a darker, emotionally charged story that could become one of the most anticipated thrillers in development.
Know Buddys Take
Olympic dreams. A ruthless coach. Jenna Ortega. Rose Byrne. Yeah… we’re already sold. If Black Swan and Whiplash had a cinematic cousin set in the gymnastics world, Nasty might just be it.
