Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has looked back at his decades-long bonds with Shatrughan Sinha and Jackie Shroff, revealing a deeply personal connection with their families. On Raksha Bandhan, Ghai shared a picture with Poonam Sinha and Ayesha Shroff and recalled that he performed their kanyadaan at their respective weddings.
A Bond That Began At Work
Ghai described Shatrughan Sinha and Jackie Shroff as his “two first heroes.” His association with Shatrughan began with Kalicharan, while he later introduced Jackie as a leading man with Hero.
Poonam And Ayesha Became Like Sisters
Over the years, Ghai’s professional relationships with the two actors developed into close family bonds. He described Poonam Sinha and Ayesha Shroff as his “two strong Raakhi sisters” and said their relationship has continued well beyond their professional lives.
He Performed Their Kanyadaan
Ghai revealed that he performed the kanyadaan at both Poonam Sinha and Ayesha Shroff’s weddings — Poonam’s marriage to Shatrughan Sinha and Ayesha’s marriage to Jackie Shroff.
The Families Still Celebrate Rakhi Together
The filmmaker said the bond remains strong even today, with the families continuing to meet on Raksha Bandhan. He described having these relationships in his life as a blessing.
From Beauty Queens To Mothers
Ghai also celebrated Poonam and Ayesha’s individual journeys. Both had won the Miss Young India title before entering the world of modelling and acting, and Ghai praised them for the roles they have taken on as mothers and sisters.
KnowBuddys Take
