After Srikanth won the 72nd National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film, director Tushar Hiranandani and producer Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani revealed that the Rajkummar Rao-starrer had been overlooked by almost every major award ceremony despite receiving love from audiences and critics.

“We Knew We Had Made A Good Film”

Reflecting on the National Award win, Tushar said he never doubted the film’s quality. He pointed out that Srikanth performed well at the box office, earned praise from critics, and became one of Rajkummar Rao’s biggest successes. The filmmaker admitted that while other award juries may have overlooked the film, he always believed it deserved recognition.

Producer Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani shared that the team never questioned the effort they had put into the film because the audience’s love had already validated their work. However, she acknowledged that missing out on major awards had created a gap in terms of recognition. According to her, winning the National Award has now filled that gap in the biggest possible way.

Based on the inspiring life of visually impaired entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla, the film has now earned one of Indian cinema’s highest honours. While Rajkummar Rao missed out on the Best Actor award, the makers said they were proud that the film itself received the prestigious National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film.
