Rajkummar Rao’s courtroom drama Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story has finally locked a new date, and it is landing right in the middle of a festive box-office weekend. The film, which was earlier scheduled for August 7, will now arrive in cinemas on October 16, 2026. Here’s what we know:
Prahaar Gets A New Release Date
After being postponed from its original August 7 release, Prahaar is now set to hit theatres on October 16. Maddock Films announced the new date on social media, promising that “justice ka Prahaar” will arrive during the Dussehra weekend.
Rajkummar Rao Plays Ujjwal Nikam
Rajkummar Rao takes on the role of renowned public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in the biographical courtroom drama. The film explores Nikam’s career and his involvement in some of India’s most high-profile criminal cases.
A Festive Weekend Release
The October 16 date gives Prahaar a potentially stronger theatrical window compared with its earlier August release. But there is already another major release lined up around the same period.
Jailer 2 Could Be The Big Competition
The new release date puts Prahaar in a potential box-office clash with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which is also expected around the Dussehra period. That means audiences could have two very different theatrical options competing for attention during the festive weekend.
A Strong Cast Behind The Drama
Directed by Avinash Arun, Prahaar also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher in important roles. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.
KnowBuddys Take
Rajkummar Rao vs Rajinikanth during the Dussehra weekend? That’s quite a box-office face-off. Prahaar has the real-life courtroom drama angle, while Jailer 2 comes with an already massive fan base. October 16 just got interesting.
