Dhanush and Mammootty’s much-awaited action drama OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood could be moving away from its October release date. The film was originally scheduled to hit theatres on October 16, just a day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Now, reports suggest the makers may be considering a November or December 2026 release instead.

OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood was officially announced for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026. The film marks Dhanush’s collaboration with director Rajkumar Periasamy, following the filmmaker’s success with Amaran.
The October date placed the film directly alongside one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year.
2. The Jailer 2 Clash
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is scheduled to release on October 15, 2026, putting it just one day ahead of Dhanush’s OM Chapter 1. This created the possibility of a major theatrical clash during the festive period.
With both films carrying major Tamil cinema stars, the release-date overlap had naturally become a talking point among trade circles.

According to a report shared by trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai, OM Chapter 1 could move out of the October window. The dates reportedly being considered are November 27 or December 3, 2026.

The reported December move could also be linked to changes in the release calendar. Prabhas’ Fauzi moving out of the December slot, Netflix, which reportedly holds streaming rights to both films, may potentially allocate a December theatrical window to OM Chapter 1.
If that happens, the Dhanush-Mammootty starrer would avoid a direct release clash with Jailer 2.
