Hanuman Ansh, inspired by the life and legacy of Shri Neem Karoli Baba, has emerged as one of the surprise success stories at the box office. Director Vishal Chaturvedi has now criticised the practice of declaring films hits or flops before their theatrical run is complete.
‘Don’t Declare A Film A Flop Too Early’
Vishal Chaturvedi said that a film should not be labelled a hit or flop while it is still running in theatres. According to him, the audience’s response should ultimately determine a film’s success.
The Film Found Its Audience
Hanuman Ansh had a quiet start but gained momentum through word of mouth. The film reportedly began with modest collections before seeing a significant jump in its third and fourth weeks.
A Small Film Against Bigger Releases
The film had to compete with larger titles such as Awarapan 2 and Toxic. Chaturvedi revealed that theatre owners were adding shows for the bigger releases and removing Hanuman Ansh even when its existing shows were selling out.
The Team Took The Film To Audiences
With the film facing limited screens, members of the production team travelled across cities and theatres to support its run. The team covered locations across Gujarat and Rajasthan in an effort to keep the film visible and accessible to audiences.
Word Of Mouth Changed The Game
The film’s growth has been driven largely by audience recommendations rather than a traditional big-budget promotional campaign. Its strong late-stage performance has turned it into an unexpected sleeper success.
KnowBuddys Take
The box office can be quick to judge, but Hanuman Ansh is proof that audiences can rewrite the verdict. A quiet opening doesn’t always mean a quiet ending.
