Christopher Nolan doesn’t make easy films. But according to the filmmaker himself, The Odyssey pushed him further than anything he’s ever made. After completing the epic adaptation of Homer’s classic, Nolan revealed that the physically and creatively demanding production has left him needing a long break from filmmaking.
“I Hit The Limits Of My Own Stamina”
Speaking about the experience, Nolan admitted that The Odyssey tested not only him but the entire cast and crew. The director said he had “definitely hit the limits” of his own stamina, adding that making a story as monumental as The Odyssey was never going to be an easy journey.
No New Nolan Film Anytime Soon
When asked about his next project, Nolan made it clear that fans shouldn’t expect another film anytime soon. The Oscar-winning filmmaker said his next movie is at least three years away, as he plans to step back and recover after one of the most ambitious productions of his career.
A Film Made On An Epic Scale
The Odyssey was shot entirely using IMAX film cameras across multiple countries and features a massive ensemble cast led by Matt Damon, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, and others. The sheer scale of the production has already made it one of Nolan’s most ambitious cinematic achievements.
