One of the biggest films of the decade just got hit by piracy. Days before the official digital launch of Ramayana: Part 1, a phone-recorded clip from the film’s trailer surfaced online after an exclusive preview event in Delhi. Now, the makers have launched a full-scale anti-piracy crackdown to stop the leak from spreading.
How Did The Leak Happen?
The trailer was first showcased at the Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi for invited guests. Soon after the screening, a 1-minute-28-second phone-recorded clip began circulating across social media platforms, giving fans an unauthorized glimpse of the film before its official release.
Makers Begin Aggressive Takedowns
Producer Namit Malhotra and the film’s legal team have reportedly begun an extensive anti-piracy drive. The team is issuing takedown notices, removing leaked clips from platforms like X and Reddit, and investigating how the footage was recorded and shared online. Fans have also been urged to avoid watching or circulating pirated content and wait for the official trailer release on July 24.

With Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol leading one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious projects, expectations for Ramayana are sky-high.
