1. Karan Johar ventures into a new cinematic space
Known for romance, family dramas and larger-than-life storytelling, Karan Johar is now reportedly exploring a historical-devotional epic. The project marks a significant shift from the filmmaker’s more familiar territory and aims to combine emotional storytelling with spectacular visuals.
2. Radha and Krishna’s divine love will be at the core
According to reports, the film will chronicle Krishna’s journey from his birth to the killing of Kansa, while keeping the divine love story between Radha and Krishna at its emotional centre. The makers reportedly want to balance romance, drama, devotion and tragedy without losing the essence of the story.
3. Sachin Ravi is writing and directing
Karan Johar has reportedly brought filmmaker Sachin Ravi on board to both write and direct the ambitious project. Ravi previously directed the 2019 Kannada fantasy adventure Avane Srimannarayana, starring Rakshit Shetty, which developed a strong reputation for its imaginative world-building.
4. A massive visual spectacle is being planned
The project is expected to be mounted on a large scale, with the team reportedly aiming for a cinematic experience combining history, romance and grand visuals. However, the emphasis is said to be on ensuring that the spectacle doesn’t overpower the emotional and devotional heart of the narrative.
5. Karan has reportedly wanted to tell this story for years
A source close to the project told, Karan Johar has wanted to make a film on Radha and Krishna for a long time. The filmmaker is said to have finally found a script that he believes can do justice to one of the most iconic love stories from Indian scriptures.
6. Casting remains under wraps
While the project is reportedly moving ahead, no cast has been officially revealed yet. The identities of the actors who could play Radha, Krishna and other key characters are being kept under wraps, leaving plenty of room for speculation.
7. The film is still in development
